Mumford & Sons' Winston Marshall quits after backlash over tweet

Mumford & Sons' lead guitarist has quit the band following backlash to a tweet supporting a right-wing author.after describing conservative journalist Andy Ngo as a "brave man" for his book which claimed far-left activists had "radical plans to destroy democracy".He blamed a "viral mob" for his decision to leave the band permanently.in a blog post.

"Nothing could be further from the truth," he said, adding that 13 members of his family were murdered in concentration camps during the Holocaust, in the Second World War.During the coronavirus pandemic, Winston, 33, had used his social media accounts to comment on the books he was reading.

These celebrities should learn not to talk about religion or politics. But, they think so much about there own opinion that they just can't stop themselves.

It's quite apparent that well known people have to be of the far-left persuasion (or pretend to be) in order avoid the new cancer of cancel culture. Risible.

Imagine being so petty that your opinion as a 'fan' is to stop buying a band's music because one of the members liked a book that you didn't like.

'Ohh no we are so angry, so offended, there simply has to be a backlash on twitter so other people know how virtuous and offended we are!' The same judgey people sit in their warm homes and double lock the door when they see a person of colour walk down their street.

I have no time for the far left and new woke. That said, if you post your views on social media, expect people to come back at you. Especially if you are famous.
