Concrete barriers put on Suffolk road to enforce '28-mile detour'

Concrete bollards have been installed to enforce a 45-week road closure after motorists"removed barriers" to avoid detours of up to 28 miles .

Suffolk County Council put up plastic barriers as work began on Tuesday, but has had to add immovable ones. The council said only the thickness of the surface was currently holding up the road but there was a three metre wide cavity under the surface. Ms Murfitt said Farthing Drove was"the main road from Ely and Littleport [in Cambridgeshire] to Lakenheath village, Brandon and Thetford".

28 miles!!! Think of the extra pollution. Greta will chin the council fuckers!😆

45 weeks to mend a road. China built a hospital in a week!

44 weeks of wasting money, 1 week of actual work. The Empire State Building was built in 410 days. In 1930. These lazy arses con't fix a road in 45 fucking weeks? Holy shit.

You'd have thought a thoughtful driver-friendly temporary road-piece could have been crafted to skirt around the culvert works. Surely, with permission a bit of the farmland to side of culvert could have had a few slabs or shingle laid as a short bypass to curve by the works?

Dummies such ignorance

Slow day for news stories today ?

With 12 Council civil engineers talking about it and 2 men with shovels it will take 45 weeks shame on you

“It has been shut for one reason or another more than once a year for four years and the council never do it up properly,' This should be a standard council motto instead of working for you, improving communities etc etc. You know the usual BS..

Well, the Dutch built this over a weekend.... so that council should hang their heads in shame..

28 mile detour? How is that acceptable? I wonder why they would want to avoid it ?!

That could be fixed in less than a day, get it done

Closed for 45 weeks! Embarrassing.

Get the royal engineers in they would sort that in under 24 hours

But why?

Cement report?
