Rob Reiner’s entertaining adaptation of Stephen King’s darkly funny novel remains horribly effective thanks in large part to a never-better Kathy Bates

Thirty years later Misery is memorable enough as a brisk two-hander willing to get loony, though I can’t imagine there’d be much to fuss over without its prime ingredient: Kathy Bates. Her mercurial performance as the infamous nurse Annie is the film’s backbone, elevating what might’ve been a single-note psycho-thriller into a layered portrait of madness and authorial anxiety.

Kathy Bates when she plays a psycho

Still a brilliant film, I rewatched it a few months ago.

I love that film with Kathy Bates, haven't read the book sometimes the film illustrates the activities better. Ira Levin the boys from Brazil was better as film then book I.had read it
