What would’ve been called Oculus Quest 3 is almost being shadow-dropped, with a launch on October 10 at a price of £480.
Although Meta already said the headset was due this year the suddenness of the price announcement is perhaps an attempt to get in before the launch of Apple’sMeta is keen to describe the Quest 3 as a mixed reality headset, which means that as well as VR it also does AR – mixing views of the real world with computer-generated imagery.
It also has 8GB of RAM, with two 120Hz LCD display that have a resolution of 2064 x 2208 each – so 30% sharper than the Quest 2. The horizontal field of view is 110° and the vertical goes up to 96°. All of that amounts to a headset that weighs 515g, which may sound a lot, but all the previous Quest headsets have been very comfortable and the new one is unlikely to be any different in that respect.
