The Mirror's People's Pet Awards 2021 is set to honour extraordinary animals including a hero husky who rescued an abandoned baby.

Within weeks, Robert saw his life change as Flora, who was then the first qualified Akita working as a medical alert dog, stopped Robert in his tracks when she sensed he was about to collapse.

The Walk Your Worries Away program is aimed at young people, many of whom suffer with relationship issues or are living in temporary accommodation such as hostels, and offers them a chance to take time out in nature by walking a rescue dog. Siobhan said: "Connor can be very loud, and his medical conditions mean he’s very wobbly and clumsy. Many pets would understandably keep their distance, but not Minty – when Connor is at his most in need, Minty is there like a shot."Spotted by police officers in the road near a bonfire, the kitten, who is now known as Fire Cat, had lost all the fur on his face and was taken to the Pride Veterinary Centre in Derby where he was put on fluids and given a slim chance of survival.
Following their best efforts to re-home the super-sized dog, Galahad appeared to be too much for many owners to cope with.
