They call themselves “The Tyre Extinguishers” and say they have one aim: to make it impossible to own a 4×4 in the world’s urban areas.
The climate activists go out at night and deflate the tyres of SUVs in affluent areas, from the UK and Scandinavia, to New Zealand and the USA. They claim they’ve struck around 5,000 vehicles all over Britain in the last few months, with one police force describing their actions as reckless.

alextomo It makes you waste more gas. So you pay more to use your car and waste time each morning checking your tires and topping them off before work. Its considered property damage. It can also be extortion and gang intimidation.
alextomo A great way to antagonize individual drivers who will then tell all their family and friends about the annoying climate whackos. Also falls into the trap of individual responsibility vs systemic solutions on climate. Tax the hell out of high CO2 / dangerous vehicles instead.

alextomo Not the brightest bunch of Bell-Ends,🙄 By letting down a tyre they will cause more carbon as the owners will call a recovery company to drive out to re inflate them.
alextomo Ridiculous protest to target one genre of cars not all of which have high co2 emissions, not to mention energy used reinflating tyres. My own car is a compact SUV but emits less co2 than several super minis. Its efficient engine/transmission is one of main reasons I chose it.
alextomo Most people have a compressor in their boot for emergencies so 5 mins to fix. Shame they also don't realise SUVs aren't always the worst with emissions either 🤔
