As soon as they stopped, I didn't really know how to play with him, what kinds of toys to use to get his development up to scratch.The classes gave me a reason to leave the house and allowed my son to interact with other babies to help his development.Chase's mum worries he may have suffered because he hasn't been able to mix with others his ageMental health is the saddest part.
It was stressing me out to the point where I wasn't sleeping - I could barely function being up with a baby all day. We've had to decide not to go back to work purely because we haven't got childcare - we've had to prioritise our children over paying our bills. New mums have had constant worries that keep us up at night and it just wasn't needed. All they needed to do was say one message.
I honestly thought this was a joke. Whilst i sympathise,COVID has negatively impacted everyone and it is not right to expect the Government to pander to individual whims. I have been shielding for 6 months, holding down a stressful job with no outside life but thats the way it is

At least you are both healthy and safe. Do you see me moaning about the months of education my 3 kids have lost and the impact it’ll have on them? What about ppl who couldn’t grieve and mourn their loved ones properly? It’s shit yes but we need to deal with it the best we can
So lockdown means she can’t have her baby's weight checked to see if its correctly putting on weight; but she could do this herself & check online, just stand on scales and weigh yourself then hold baby and subtract, if U have no scale borrow neighbours, just whining and moaning

Wait why? Count yourself lucky what else do you think you do on maternity leave ok lets look 1..shop 2..sleep Because when the baby allows you any free time you try to sleep because other than shopping changing nappies and playing. That's about it. Its not like Tv shows it

Mothers! I hate the word “mums”. It’s what children call their parents.
The idea of maternity leave is for you to have extra time off to get used to the changes in your daily life that having a new born baby brings, now whichever way you have been very lucky to have had that time, this is not an holiday entitlement for the modern day must haves

Classes were stopped for ALL children and there was no socialising. It’s been hard on everyone, can’t turn back time just have to make best of future.

Sorry to sound unsympathetic maternity Leave is to allow a parent to be at home and care for baby in early months. Which she has been able to do. Everyone has been isolated in this time. Can I have some free time off to do lots of travel and socialising when this is over?

No breastfeeding support, no basic checks a mother and baby would receive. These babies don’t know grandparents or extended family. No opportunity to feel safe with anyone other than parents maternitypetition connectedbaby
This is a huge insult to Blisscharity in my opinion! For YEARS they fought to make it better for parents of premature babies! At the minute new mams are sat at home with their baby while hundreds of parents up and down the country don’t even know if their baby will survive!
Imagine what damage must have been done to adults like myself who were born before any of these types of classes existed.Can we get any help as we were held back so much?

I’m a mom and confused why maternity leave be extended ? I actually thought off new moms and dads enjoying quality time with their new born. How fabulous . Especially if father was on furlough .
At three months old I would like to know what socialising a baby does with other children. The most important bond is the mother/ baby one and they have had the opportunity to develop that.
The mothers job to care for the child. Let’s hope mothers start doing what nature intended. A mothers job is not going out to work while another person cares for their child. It might bring back good family values for mum to stay at home.

The maternitypetition is for many reasons: thousands of mums have been denied medical appts after birth, babies have been denied key appts. Perinatal mental health is the rise and these women are struggling to get childcare for new babies so forced to quit or take unpaid leave!
Yep - Holiday gets cancelled and Annual Leave needs recalculating based on days worked. Mums are just going to have to suck it up, like the rest of us. Life sucks.
