Martin Lewis has told everyone with a bank account how they can get £205 for free - and it doesn't involved switching bank accounts.
It's a common tactic for banks to "lob free cash" when customers switch to them, the MSE team said, and this inevitably results in a customer closing their bank account and moving everything over to a new bank. However that is now the case for customers who open a new HSBC account. The banking giant is offering an initial payment of at least £125 when you open one of its new multi-currency accounts, with a further £80 at a later date.
You don't need to switch banks to HSBC either, in fact, all you need to do is open the account and spend on the HSBC debit card five times within 60 days. There is also no minimum spend for the card. The MSE team says that once this is all done, £125 will be paid into the Global Money account within 20 days - just in time for Christmas. Once the money has landed in the Global Money account, you will need to use it five times before April 2024 which will result in £80 landing in the account before May 2024.
