Why doesn't the Welsh first minister have an official residence?

The prime minister has Downing Street, the first minister of Scotland has Bute House in Edinburgh.

One of the architects of the project, former Welsh Secretary Ron Davies, said he was against the idea, wanting to avoid the pomp and ceremony of the Westminster parliament. The National Assembly of 1999, when it opened, has since been transformed. Its now a law-making parliament called the Senedd, and its ministers have their own organisation - the Welsh government.

"My own instinctive view was that we didn't want that," Mr Davies said, aiming for a more informal assembly that would "do away with all the pomp and circumstance which is associated in parliament". The building is credited as being one of the finest Georgian architectural achievements of Edinburgh. It had been the residence of the Secretary of State for Scotland, prior to devolution. If an official residence was ever seriously pursued it would be up to the Welsh political scene to sell the idea to the public.

Former first minister Carwyn Jones said he did not think a residence was needed to "avoid things like this in the future".image captionMark Drakeford has wondered aloud about whether it might be needed in future, for a different reason.

Would you want a Welshman living with you Boyo?

they are MP's with fancy titles just like the wee krankies .

He does, a Shepard’s hut.

Don't know. Why doesn't the Welsh first minister have an official residence ?

Because he's irrelevant

Cos he looks like something from last of the summer wine

What’s it got to do with you

Because he is a self effacing man of the people, unlike the self regarding prigs at Westminster.

His son does

Doesnt he have an official Shed ?

Why should any politician get an official residence? They're supposed to serve the country not leech off it.

Did people really protest outside his home ?

Can’t wait for the punchline

Because Boris is a Jackson...?

Sorry?
