An arts centre boss is alleged to have thrown eggs at a statue of Margaret Thatcher on Sunday.

A university has said it "does not condone defacement" after a staff member was accused of egging a statue of Margaret Thatcher in Grantham.

Officers attended the scene on Sunday, and egg residue and a piece of shell could be seen on the statue's lower half. Meanwhile, Neil Kinnock, who led the Labour party between 1983 and 1992 and who regularly faced Mrs Thatcher in the Commons during that time, condemned the egging, adding: "The statue should be respected, full stop.

Apaĺling

All statues should be removed… they all offend at least 1 person.

Who is he

Has he been fired?

Nice more eggs must be pooped on that thing! 🤡😂🤣

Oh you jippee the Witch is Dead Maggi who actually went to War to get reelected?

A bit like Marmite. You either love or you hate her.

So a person who threw an egg at Mags statue is condemned & a person who stuck a cone on the head of IDS is being prosecuted.Yet the bods from Stop Oil & other groups who only annoy the General Public are told”sorry we arrested you for sticking your bum to the M25, sorry sorry”!

A object in life• A object in after life• iTs very reassuring thaT mosT people remember what this object of A person did to working class people • l nearly said human • that word does not apply •living though her terms of office truly horrendous time for working class people

Are they going to condemn it every time this statue is attacked? They may need to take on extra staff to keep up.

Wasnt the statue put up intended to have eggs thrown at it?

Well I condemn Margaret Thatcher for starting the privtisation of the NHSuk...

Yes I hope they have done so because in such times others could use such eggs. Plenty dog poo bags around.

I think it’s amazing how over half these comments are from people that weren’t even alive during Maggies leadership and the other half are obviously Labour as standard…..pathetic

I wonder why only eggs? I seem to recall previous statue had its head lopped off! I wonder what made someone spend £300,000 on a statue that is bound to be found objectionable by the majority? Funny old world

Let she who is without sin cast the first egg

Ah, a new public urinal has opened up I see

margaret thatcher condemmed by anyone with brain, more at 6

Wasted eggs.

One guy, one egg at the bottom of a statue is worth writing an article? Where’s the news in this…

Shocking... should be sacked

And encouraged by everyone else in society!!!

Maggie was the best PM, all those who hate her must be rioters. The country was at a standstill. Blackouts, Strikes, no transport, no production! Deal with it nitwits!

How ironic!

Absolute colossus of a woman. She came to power just at the right time.

Let us back the beast of bolsover & give the nation the chance to express their opinion of Thatcher and the terrible damage she has reeked on our nation for the last 40 years.

Tax payer's money 💰?

Rip it down

Lady Thatcher was one of the finest Prime Minister the UK ever had. I recommend at this time of austerity you better eat the eggs instead to throw them to a harmless statue.

Most of the country can't afford to waste eggs right now. When the economy picks up it will be plastered in them.

She had the guts to do what other politicians had not. I did not agree with her policies at the time but the unelected unions would would have kept us in the stone age and I was an engineer a dying steel works due to lack investment bad management and unions
