At least 100 organisations have offered to supply free schol meals during half term, inspired by footballer Marcus Rashford's campaign to end child food poverty.encouraged anyone wishing to join him to tweet using the hashtag #endchildfoodpoverty and he would retweet with a locator, saying he was"blown away" by the support he'd received.Blown away by news of local businesses stepping up to fill the voucher scheme deficit during the October half term.
Those offering to help ranged from cafes, sandwich shops and pubs, to charities, catering companies and restaurant chains, such as the Big Smoke Brewery. Some of those taking part are located in areas where they have to close due to new lockdown measures.
MarcusRashford Glad to see Sky News now recognising others who care and have been helping for months( Mesut Ozick) with out all the grandstanding.
MarcusRashford Why should I pay to feed other people’s kids I’ll support my family
MarcusRashford Just an idea... Why don’t the devolved governments of Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland agree a financial support package for feeding hungry kids in England? It would put Westminster to shame and also highlight that it is an English only Parliament. ToryScumbags FreeSchoolMeals
MarcusRashford Love how businesses just stand up and shame the government 👍👍👍
MarcusRashford This Government are out of touch with our poorest families. I work in Children’s Services in the South. They are so detached from reality. If we don’t help our most vulnerable families our whole society suffers. meanukgov
MarcusRashford Most of them are stating child has to be accompanied by a paying adult though, so perhaps more about increasing takings than altruism.
MarcusRashford If you carnt afford them USE BIRTH CONTROL simple .
BethRigby MarcusRashford This is what a leader looks like! ❤️ welovemarcus xxxx 👌💪💪 strengthinnumbers powertothepeople communitiesrock
MarcusRashford Don't worry JohnPenroseNews here are some people with souls who are helping the less fortunate. Hope you enjoyed your £20k of expenses last year.
MarcusRashford All members of parliament should vote to give up their £25 per day for free meals and release those funds to children in poverty. This would go some of the way to reduce child poverty. It would also show that children in the uk are more important to them than their own bellies!
MarcusRashford The state of some the replies to this. What a cursed country we've become that trying to make sure schoolchildren don't starve is a bad thing.
MarcusRashford how will this be policed, ie kids go get a burger pass to parents and then go get fish and chips elsewhere
MarcusRashford One week
MarcusRashford Magic breakfast are one of em☝🏾👍🏾
MarcusRashford A nice young man doing the work that the USELESS politicians should be doing! BorisJohnson
BethRigby MarcusRashford They weren't dropped off by a stork Maybe learn how to budget if you have kids. Learn how to cook! 👀
MarcusRashford Inspired by a multi millionaire footballer to fund his idea
BethRigby MarcusRashford KLM! Kids Lives Matter Cummings government is toast. Burnt toast. We Will Never Forget The War The Conservatives Instigated Against Vulnerable Children. KLM. kids Lives Matter.
MarcusRashford Charitable donations to offset tax with some virtue signalling with salt and vinegar please mate.
MarcusRashford State of some of these comments. Kids doing and done more than some you morons put together.
MarcusRashford
MarcusRashford No mention of Birmingham council?!? That’s a big council there skyNews
MarcusRashford Where have these kids been all their life ? Suddenly an increase in family credit and benefit. Half term again with no food. Come folks ffs
MarcusRashford He's a multi millionaire shame on him for not donating to the cause. Maybe donate some to his own country of origin too if he cares genuinely....
MarcusRashford Can't afford to feed your kids, don't bash em out... Simple....
MarcusRashford Well Done might eventually get rid of Borris and co.
MarcusRashford My local Takeaway has published this on local Facebook Group's!
MarcusRashford Didn’t even realise MP’s get a £25 per day food allowance. £125 per week £1300 per year ( per person) £845,000 per year for all MP’s £800k + of our taxes go towards feeding MP’s on £80k a year while children go hungry. If that doesn’t bother you then you have a problem
The children in London do they look like they are starving? now only the other day they say the children are Obese 😃now they are starving please decide if this is true please Thankyou 😉
Every parent in the UK receives child benefit till the day they leave full time education! Parents should use that money wisely to feed their own children! Failing that stop living life above ones mean cancel mobile phone contracts sky contracts etc to feed your own children!
So let me get this right. People in this thread are angry at Marcus Rashford for wanting to feed hungry children? Weird flex but okay.
boris kontol
Cool keep the government out of feeding kids. Let the family and community do it.
This is great, but I don't want to see the Government slipping off the hook
Hopefully amongst the 100 organisations are the local councils who have already received additional funds to deal with hardship resulting from Covid.
He's a good lad...
You should get an MBE for your work for hungry children well done to you xxx
This is all really outstanding but its playing into the parents hands who will continue not to do thier best and squander the universal credit even more. The root of the matter is how credit is spent. Food on table first followed by clothing not on smoking drinking mobiles pets
DOUBLE CHILD BENEFIT. INSTANT BOOST TO ALL HOUSEHOLDS WITH CHILDREN.
Great news. The less of my tax money used to subsidise lazy parenting the better
IF YOU CANT FEED YOUR KIDS........ DONT HAVE ANY
What about giving free meals to residents in care homes, I think they are being fleeced!
Go for it don't forget to claim the charitable relief on your tax returns!
