Marcus Piggott’s career takes him all over the globe, but when it came to selecting a much-loved landscape to feature on the cover of British’s August 2020 issue, there was only ever one place in the running. The fashion photographer, one half of Mert & Marcus, chose a tranquil scene captured at a deserted spot in his native Wales: a sun-baked trail flanked by soaring conifers on either side, the blue sky on the horizon dotted with cotton ball clouds.

The unmistakably British scene, which instantly calls to mind country walks on summer days, perfectly encapsulates the celebration of nature at the heart of’s series of 14 special UK landscapes, commissioned for the August issue from the country’s foremost creatives.
