A lout who smashed the window of a Northampton pub and attacked the doorman has avoided prison. at the Spread Eagle pub on Wellingborough Road.
"He has 14 convictions for 38 previous offences, the most recent of which was criminal damage in September 2020 for which he received a suspended sentence. Wellingborough Road on a Friday night between 10pm and 11pm would have been a lively street. "He decided to run away and another doorman grabbed him. He came back with a Stanley knife and he lunged toward me.
Murray was told to put the knife down by security, which he did, before Northamptonshire Police were called to the scene. In mitigation, Caroline Bray said: "This is somebody who doesn't fully understand and acknowledge the impact of alcohol upon them. He has started on that road to abstinence. "On the one hand these are serious offences and on the other hand, they're rooted in your abuse of alcohol. This is a real opportunity to address what is a core problem for you.
