Experts say there's not enough evidence yet.ENT UK, the body that represents Ear, Nose and Throat doctors, says it is not surprising that some patients with coronavirus might report these as symptoms, but they are not specific to Covid-19.The King's researchers say loss of smell and taste might be useful extra symptoms to watch for, perhaps not on their own but alongside other important ones like cough and fever.
Lead researcher Prof Tim Spector said:"When combined with other symptoms, people with loss of smell and taste appear to be three times more likely to have contracted Covid-19 according to our data, and should therefore self-isolate for seven days to reduce the spread of the disease."
I've had a few colds over the years with identical symptoms. 🤷♂️
Didn't this come out 2 weeks ago?
I've had corona for years then in that case 🙄
If loss of taste is a symptom anyone who thinks James Corden is funny is in deep trouble
On and on and on and on... same old crap.
Ah yes the thing non researchers worked out weeks ago 🙄
Or maybe not ! Don't fall for the coronavirus Covid_19 HOAX!
So, what’s the message? To test if you have the virus, don’t change clothes for a week, and if you can’t smell how bad you are, you have it? 😩
Wow .... your breaking news was known two weeks ago 🤣🤣😝🤣🤣
I lost both months ago.
Same as in flu or heavy cold & loss of hunger. It’s from the flu family so similarities will happen.
Let’s face it.. they haven’t a clue what it is, what caused it or why it spread so fast! There’s so many permutations of it and this time of year anyone could have a combination of those symptoms.. Tell us the truth... What is it!!! What caused it!!! Not Bat stew in China?!?
They just have scared a lot of people who are affected by nasal polyps as they have no sense of smell or taste..
Strange thing, tea tastes different. Could be a duff box of bags except.... It’s Yorkshire tea but can’t be that as they do things proper. Must be the water. It’s not Yorkshire water which “is only available in Yorkshire”.. what’s the matter with my tea taste? YorkshireTea
My Husband and Daughter has this last week
AliyaNazki Ohh no. Ab nayi cheez
Oh no!
I would be interested to know if anyone had Coronavirus symptoms, fever, sore throat, cough, loss of appetite/ smell and taste, before the first official UK transmitted cases at the end of Feb? Both myself and my wife had these symptoms in early January!
It is. My uncle and aunt are both infected and have lost smell and taste
thank goodness for flatulance...😳😂
Well I've had it for about 3/4 years that's how long ago I lost my sence of smell/taste
The BBC lost its taste years ago!
My wife likes K-pop, does this mean she’s lost her sense of taste?

andygoldstein05 😛
That's been known for a couple of weeks (30% of cases),try and keep up.
Omg yesterday I was asking my mum why didn't she add spices in the food, even tho she did. Omg.
That explains this outfit, get yourself tested Tom_Hunter_1990
On the plus side you can drink carling
'may be' Whereas turning on the BBC these days, is a definite sign of insanity.
Actually I lost my smell and taste back in February. I just put it down to a cold. I’m still not taking any chances though. Staying in.
Stay safe fart on your partner
It’s a zoonose virus.
People staying home invent new rumors everyday no one knows sh...
Bit of luck with my missus cooking
Can also happen when you have a bad cold/flu too.
Definitely I’d say as I had exactly this happen to me but it only lasted a few days, not sure I had corona virus tho but it was certainly something I’ve never experienced before.
What do you mean ‘uk researchers suggest’? This has been reported around the world for a month. Pathetic.
Of “A” coronavirus, not specifically Covid-19!! Not to mention, simple cold symptoms too.
It's proved far earlier by dozens of places. including Rudy Gobert and a Japanese actor.
Let's give the hypochondriacs something else to worry about. Ramp up the fear why not!
BBCLookEast So where is all the testing so people can stop having to guess whether they have got Covid 19 or just a cold. Come on Boris, get your act together.
I have rhinitis and it’s a side effect of that as well. Day 2- still making cups of tea in the hope I can taste it! Had a rotten cold at the weekend and lost taste and smell yesterday, maybe it was a touch of the covid, maybe just bad timing ? Won’t ever know
'Among the ones who had coronavirus infection confirmed [...] , three-fifths (59%) reported loss of smell or taste.' This number is _completely useless_ without stating the false-positive rate. I thought the BBC were above this kind of sloppy reporting.
Two weeks behind the curve on that as well then.
Old news
Clearly have nothing new to post so just drumming up another bit of paranoia
Do these senses come back? It's been over a week that I lost my sense of taste which was 2 weeks after being at my worst with a dry cough & temperature. Also confusing as to whether I still have it or over it. So little is known so I am still self isolating.
It is aldo the symptoms of radio frequency radiation !!! BBC peddling lies AGAIN
mike_poultney harry_mckeown
Are we really doing this ? So many of us have been home Sick no sense of taste or smell aching all over our bodies , weak some coughing some people not yet we still are not acknowledging the true signs for this virus? Trying to get through on NHS111 is a bloody joke 😡
Loss my smell and taste around a year ago
This is old news BBC. 🙄
It's not may be, might be or could be it is
My mum had a loss of taste when she dated her last boyfriend.
“But loss of smell and taste are also signs of other respiratory infections, such as the common cold. And experts say fever and cough remain the most important symptoms of the virus to look out for and act upon.” Another none story by our amazing MSM 🤔. NOT
Or.. It could be hay-fever.
What if you already have no sense of smell. Scuppered then.
I lost my sense of smell and three days ago. I’ve got bad sinuses, so I’m sure it’s just that and not Covid19 symptoms
Fast food eaters have had it for years
That's the Sudafed working
May be handy as millions of people eat out of date food bought during the panicbuyinguk
Combined with loss of freedom, loss of livelihood!
And the same from a common cold .
My wife was tested 3 days ago, awaiting results. Total loss of smell.
What next lol
