Lloyds Banking Group has agreed to pay £140m to Standard Life Aberdeen to settle a legal fight over the future of a £100bn asset management mandate.

But in March a tribunal ruled that the high street banking group - which trades as Lloyds Bank as well as Halifax bank of Scotland - had not been entitled to do so.
