Work to repair the 6m (20ft) hole in Liverpool is expected to take at least two weeks to complete

A large sinkhole has opened up in part of Liverpool after a water main burst.

The 15ft by 20ft crater appeared at about 22:30 BST on Friday as some residents reported losing their water supply. Fire crews and police were called to the scene at the junction of Prescot Road and Green Lane, Old Swan, to aid efforts to stop flooding.Water supplies to some homes in the area were cut off for some time, it said, but had since been reconnected.
