Laura Whitmore has criticised a photographer for taking pictures of her in an airport against her will.
On Thursday, the Love Island host landed in Cape Town, South Africa, where she was greeted by her boyfriend, comedian Iain Stirling.Whitmore explained on Twitter."We tried to ignore it but he continued to follow us as we got coffee and left the building," she said. "So I asked him would he stop as he had what he wanted. I said we were mourning a friend and could he allow us space."Whitmore said the photographer told them:"Can you give me a reaction. It's a public place and I can take pictures if I want."It is not illegal in South Africa to photograph someone without their permission provided they are in a public space."I have never courted the paparazzi but understand at work events it comes with the territory," she added.
"I don't like attacking people but we need to call people out when they do things like this. Iain and I just wanted some privacy."
Never heard of her couldn't care less
Surely in an airport(as in any public place) there is NO expectation of privacy!
Why should any body be allowed to take photo or video someone with out their consent, think the law need to change, what about their privacy rights !!!!
So interesting. 😬
yes, nothing to be criticised, C'est la vie!
Are you the organisation that filmed a raid at Cliff Richard’s house from a helicopter. Not sure we’ll be taking lectures from you.
Who?
It's a public space, you need a private jet
You chase the limelight you take the consequences.
That's what being a 'star' is like!!!
That picture looks posed.
Silly girl, this is not how to raise your 'profile' if you wish to stay in the public eye. Years ago when George Clooney blamed the press for killing Diana, they blanked him for 6 months, so not a good move for a reality show wanna-be.
The picture looks like it was posed for? That seems to be a large part of the problem these so called celebrities love being the centre of attention and part of that involves them claiming fake outrage about anything just to get their picture in the papers once again.
Her private time is hers... take all the photos you want when she is working... like at work events or red carpets or whatever... Creepy people
Just wondering. How fast can a paparazzo walk with a telephoto lens stuck up his jacksie?
I just don't like Laura Whitmore...
Who is Laura Whitmore
Life of a celeb: 1) Desperate for publicity, 2)Happy with publicity, 3)Fed up of publicity, 4)No publicity, 5)Desperate for publicity. Repeat ad infinitum.
Don't get stuck up your own arse Laura.
As distressing as it may be for her, she’s coming across as attention seeking. Just the other day she was wearing a dress with a newspaper design at the BRITS. Just my personal opinion...
No law against it. Anyone can take a photo of anyone else in public. It's good manners to ask & you must desist if asked to do so. We live in a world where a majority of the public own & carry a camera phone. If you're in the public eye then expect such things to happen.
Who is this person
So she is in mourning not to be photographed but not to be publishing complaints I assume through her PR to the press about being photographed ? No such thing as bad publicity ..
'I said we were mourning a friend and could he allow us space.'' Er...Brit Awards.?
Who is Laura Whitmore ?
If you want to be a celebrity, suck it up. You chose this life no one forced it upon you.
She’s got great coverage off her mates death......
She didn’t mind pictures taken at the Brits just days she was mourning the death of her friend........🤔
Good for you Laura! It’s time the press behaved like civilised human beings.
The bloke is only doing his job and trying to put food on the table tbf. I've no idea who she is mind so don't know why she's so wound up.
Who is she ?
Tell the bimbo she’s in public. There is no expectation of privacy. If there was, governments and businesses would be in trouble.
BBC journalism at its finest. Who the hello is she?
Yea , they really look like they’re trying to avoid the camera 🤷♂️🤷♂️
It's a public place unless the airport has specific policies in place that no photos can be taken at all then she can suck it up.
Laura who!! Put ya sell out there! then deal with it or work in sainsburys
She’s probably still angry at losing her friend. Cut her some slack
Poor thing.
I'm sure she'd complain even more if it stopped, who is she anyway?
As long as they don't complain when they go 'off the radar' because no one sees them other than on their programme?
Was she in a public space. She should come to my town, the police are taking photos non stop, faciial recognition.
You can't have it both ways. If you live your life in the public eye, reaping the benefits if that, then expect to be photographed.
Public place or not, if someone specifically asks you to stop photographing them then stop. It’s about respect and manners
2 x 🤡
Probably coz she’s not getting money for it.
Don't blame her it's discusting behaviour from the media
Who?
Unfollowed
Great publicity for her 🤷🏼♂️
😂😂😂
Who? Never heard of her until unfortunately Caroline Flack...🤔😰 HMM 🤨 Best Mate! OHHH 😲 & just to say it is NOT a crime to photograph in public.
Another one posing for the photo then complaining about the press 🙄
Oh dear. I’d feel really sorry for her, if only I knew who she is.
Good for her. Total vultures without a conscience.
Sounds like she snapped, she needs to focus on other things..is this a developing story?
If that’s all she’s got to complain about she’s doin alright ay!! Ffs
There are always photographers at the airports just incase someone famous happens to come through, I suppose there weren't any big stars that day so they had to settle for her
Love Island and privacy?
Why because there was no money involved
Never heard of her and couldn't care less.
All about censorship. This Caroline's law push was up and running before her corpse was cold.
Isn’t this a bit like sticking your hand in a lions mouth and complaining when you are bitten?
How dare he breath the same air. Vile man.
😂
Wasn't she in a public space? Not news. More licence fee money wasted. ScrapTheLicenceFee
Who?
Celebrities should only be photographed when it shows them in the best light and with their approval...all reporting should be vetted by their agents to ensure they are seen in a positive light. 🙄
Who ?
Public place....and....
Is this even news What next Breaking news....
Public space.
Ffs. They should all boycott you then and let you suffer the withdrawals of being ignored, bet you soon change your mind.
Against her will ?
Laura who hang on, wait a second while I read the article. Oh, that Laura! But is this news!! oh, I've just noticed it's in the Entertainment & Arts section. Sorry, BBC, carry on...
Tough,she doesn't look upset
She can criticise but she can’t stop it. Photographer perfectly entitled to take photographs until airport stops them doing so.
Yet you would court the press when it suits you !?
Who did she tell that then told the media that she was on that plane to South Africa? Always more to any story
Saw video of exchange they posted on twitter, might be kinder & more appropriate if folk quit bringing Caroline Flack's name into their own drama's....
Hello when you enter the entertainment world , you knew what you were sign up to , the minutes you walked out the front door , you are going to get photography.
Them when she wants pics took. She's all over them...all the same. Celebrity is different to joe public..can't have it both ways...
Some scummy paper would,ve paid over the odds for it.
Who is she?
Was this like the back drop they use to interview managers on Match of the day in front of, but an actual will?
She lacks the depth and warmth to be a cnut
they want it every which way but loose, look at me, don't look at me, if they don't want the perks that go with being famous then they should not put themselves in the firing line in the 1st place.
She looks like she’s posing for it to me
Cake and eat it comes to mind...
Who?
How does he feel about being referred to as “her Will”. Nobody thinking of his feelings.
Saw this exchange with photographer they posted on twitter, might be kinder & more appropriate for folk to let Caroline Flack's family grieve rather than bring her name into their own drama.....
who are you anyway
A wannabe objects to her picture being taken? Classic!
Her 5 mins will be over soon so she should not be too worried
Good for her. It would be appropriate if they ask first.
Is this one of the photos?
Oh doesn't she just look like she'd hate a photograph taken of her. Stop bloody posing then, wannabe celeb.
The photographer should've just taken a couple of snaps and leave, but it's not agsints the law to photograph anyone in a public place and you don't need their permission to do so.
That's her boyfriend, wow there's hope for us all then
So you feel the need to repost 🤦♂️ Nothing about giving space eh... neverlearn
Well, It looks like She said cheese, on this one. 🤔
Against her will 😂 it's a public space, you weren't raped 😂
Who cares?!?!?!?
🤣😂
Tbh the killer question is, which one is her?
Headline in UK Paper a few days ago ‘Brits 2020: Laura Whitmore stuns on red carpet in cool glitter mini dress’ I don’t recall her saying she was in mourning as she posed and pouted for the camera’s on that night. Also funny they needed to get a coffee in the arrivals!
There's little wrong with 'bread-&-circuses' per se, but when 'bread-&-circuses' are the main things we're aware about ... Government knows the value of 'bread-&-circuses' in keeping the plebeians distracted ... ... can we prove them wrong? reality society entertainment
Next time sport a hat and scarf..hell make no money for that!intrusivephotographers
Sorry, you're in a public place and it's not against the law.
She needs to read up on photographers rights. It was a public place so open to freely being filmed or photographed.
Who is she ?
BBC has become now fashion and celebrity channel.
Too right as well! So inappropriate
Don't know who she is, sorry. Is this news? What next, dog poops in park?
1st word problen
DefundtheBBC
Didnt care at the Brit Awards did she? Dont even get me started on that topic!
Who?
Bullshit
Me me me me me me me. ITS ALL ABOUT ME
Once again, this ain’t news, fix up BBC
They want them there when it suits; when there's something to be promoted or whatever. If you choose to live your life in the public eye, then you have to accept that you'll be photographed.
Would she jump in her grave so quick?
who?
Bulletin, madame: you're in an airport...a public place. Your likeness is apt to be memorialized by a photographer. Don't like it? Move to North Korea or wear a burqa.
BREAKING NEWS
Who?
Small talk
Stop the press!
We either ban journalism or we don't
Perhaps she should leave Love Island and get a job in Morrisons then if she doesn't want media attention.
P1ss off
