Barriers and portable toilets have been placed across Belfast city centre ahead of the King's arrival. Below is the scene on Chichester Street this morning:From 6.00am until 4.00pm on Tuesday 13th September there will be restricted vehicle access to the village of Royal Hillsborough. This is to facilitate the arrival of the new King in Northern Ireland.
Everyone should follow the diversions that have been put in place. If you wish to visit the village to show your support for the King, please use the Park and Ride facility at the Eikon Exhibition and Conference Centre. It will operate from 8.00am to 10.00pm.A spokesperson for LCC said: "Early this afternoon there will be a 21 Gun Salute sounded at Hillsborough Castle. This is to announce the arrival of the new King.
"We would ask all residents to keep their pets indoors and for walkers to keep their dogs on a lead at this time. This is to minimise distress due to the noise."For anyone who wants to be in Royal Hillsborough during the visit of His Majesty the King and Queen Consort, shuttle bus services will be available from 7.00am - 10.30am departing from both Lisburn Train Station and the Eikon Centre.
General public shuttle bus services to/from Royal Hillsborough will then resume again from 4.00pm – 8.00pm . The public is reminded that there is no parking permitted in Royal Hillsborough. Due to the visit, there will also be traffic diversions in Belfast City Centre impacting Translink services in the area. Customers should expect some delays and leave extra time for their journeys., or call 028 90 66 66 30."
