Britain is prepared to deploy troops to protect Nato allies in Europe if Russia invades Ukraine, Boris Johnson has said in a Commons statement.
The US has put 8,500 troops on alert to deploy at short notice, which Russia said caused it "great concern". "And we agreed on the necessity of finalising these measures as swiftly as possible in order to maximise their deterrent effect," he added.

MKay54 I just don’t get it really. What would Putin gain from an invasion? It seems to me that Putin is doing this purely as an attempt to distract the Russian people from their woes. Putin in my opinion will not invade Ukraine beyond maybe a couple of “visits” across the border.
Russia only wants to make sure that nuclear missiles are not deployed at its doorstep if Ukraine joins NATO.
This problem was exacerbated Donald Trump wanting to punish Germany and wanting to sell his LNG to Europe. The EU was not bothered before about the economic effects on Ukraine. Lets not forget that Germany is defecient on NATO subs 🤔
