Boris Johnson has confirmed the government will introduce a new bill aimed tackling the"horrific crime" of domestic abuse when Parliament returns.
Previous legislation, forcing councils to provide shelter for victims, was dropped after the prime minister suspended proceedings at Westminster. Several charities wrote to him, asking for a"clear" pledge to reintroduce it in the Queen's Speech on 14 October.
BBCPolitics Promises promises promises
oh dear geoffrey will have to send it back
BBCPolitics Is he for it or against it?
BBCPolitics BBCPolitics perhaps you should report that jessphillips domestic abuse law would have done this if he hadn’t prorogued parliament or included it in carry over legislation
So many people moaning even over positive things like this, obviously the proroguing was for Brexit mainly , however if the supreme courts reopen parliament , the question still lies: When are we going to have this much needed queen speech?
BBCPolitics Does the domestic abuse bill cover when your partner accesses your laptop and they tell you to get off?
Hmmmmm
Stu__F Sir G Boycott to be chair.
Well he does have a lot of experience on the subject 🤡BorisJohnsonLies
Aye, charity begins at home, eh!?
That’s a bit rich coming from him in the light of his history...
First let’s see him ask the Queen to revoke Boycott’s knighthood.
As per usual, this is all aimed towards help for females. Men also suffer domestic abuse and have nowhere to turn! Courts, menta health teams, police are all bias against males! Equality when it suits..
He needs to fund those cops first - the ones he stripped out when he was Mayor of London to start with
Bet his missus is chuffed.
Mmmm bullshit
Shouldn’t this headline be: “Boris Johnson responds to jessphillips criticising how he blocked anti-domestic abuse bill by shutting down Parliament”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Who's going to write it? His girlfriend?
Populism
Wonder did he ever manage to get that red wine stain out of Carrie’s sofa
Is this a story about his lawyer’s invoice?
BorisJohnson charity begins at home
Promises his lady friend more domestic abuse
If he hadn't suspended parliament in the first place, the much needed existing domestic violence bill which he had nothing to do with would have been passed... But yeah give him the credit BBC 🙄🙄🙄.
First hand experience?
The best ever bill of domestic abuse ‼️‼️
Does anyone know why they didn’t use the continuance rule so the bill can pick up where they left off rather than having to start again?
He won't be in power long enough.
All the “nice” and “morally superior” people will come into the comment section absolutely furious and devastated in equal measure and somehow say this is a bad thing. Suck a big one fools, you’re extremism is dangerous.
BBCWorld oh sod off BBC. Is this a spoof?
