Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who was a lawyer for President Donald Trump, has been subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot Donald Trump
In a letter to Giuliani, the committee on Tuesday cited witness testimony as well as reports that he urged Trump to seize voting machines despite the Department of Homeland Security saying it was not lawful. In addition, the committee subpoenaed former Trump campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn, who worked with Giuliani at the Willard Hotel ‘command center’ after the election. Epshteyn took part in a call with Trump on the morning of insurrection, ‘during which options were discussed to delay the certification of election results’, the committee claims.
Tuesday’s subpoenas indicate the committee is stepping up its inquiry, targeting individuals in Trump’s inner circle. The committee has been delving into Trump and his allies’ efforts to pressure state and Justice Department officials into reversing the election results.
