For years there has long been stories that women outnumber men in Nottingham with the ratio 'two to one' often thrown into the mix. It has attracted many visitors to the city for nights out and stag dos in the hopes that is the case.
That leaves 5,700 more females than males, not quite the ratio people who believed in the myth wanted. Compared to data from around the East Midlands, Nottingham has just a slightly wider difference between genders.Census data shows that in Derby, there were 131,900 women compared to 129,500 men leaving a 2,400 gap. Whilst in Leicester there was a 4,400 population difference between males and females.
Rutland and Charnwood buck the trend since they both have more men than women. Nationally, women outweigh men again as there are 30,420,100 females compared to 29,177,200 males in England and Wales.
