Another one for the billionaire brothers

The Issa brothers will be allowed to build a drive-thru Starbucks outside one of its Asda stores after planning permission was approved.

Chorley Borough Council has agreed to allow the coffee shop to be built on land within the car park at the Clayton-le-Woods store despite fears over anti-social behaviour. The EG Group, which is owned by the Blackburn billionaires, submitted plans for the facility last year arguing it would provide a jobs boost on underused land.

However, some neighbours raised concerns over the plan in objections submitted to the local authority.

Access will be from the existing site entrance from Woodale Road with new segregated lanes to be created for the supermarket and the coffee shop. A total of 15 jobs are expected to be created. The original application stated: "The facility will expand the range of services available in the town centre, providing new employment opportunities on both a full and part-time basis suitable to meet a range of employment needs which is a significant benefit associated with the development. The application site is well situated to serve visitors to the Asda store, other premises in the vicinity or passing by on the road network.

London LTNs: Hackney council plans to ban vehicles from most roadsHackney council is planning to ban vehicles from three-quarters of the borough's roads in an expansion of low traffic neighbourhoods. No it isn’t. Honestly get better headline writers I beg you! hackneycouncil metecoban92 mayorofhackney please could you confirm or deny whether Hackney is actually planning to “ban cars from 75% of its roads”? Vehicles aren’t banned from LTNs the clue is in the name Low Traffic Neighbourhood. Sort your copy out. No vehicles are being banned, merely motor vehicles journeys are being made less attractive by making them longer. Advantages by public transport, cycling and walking remain, if not better. Not everyone drives, or should drive.
