Mel and Jimmy welcomed Phoenix in February 1999 and divorced a year later with Mel gaining custody of the couple’s daughter and paying a settlement of £1.25m to her ex husband. Phoenix is older sister to Angel Iris Murphy Brown who Mel shares with Eddie Murphy and Madison Brown Belafonte whose father is Stephen Belafonte.
