The “unnoticed insect apocalypse” should set alarm bells ringing, according to conservationists, who said that without a halt there will be profound consequences for humans and all life on Earth.

Great to see this important issue highlighted, but using a photo of honeybees undermines the point of the article. Honeybees aren't wild pollinators and they aren't in decline. It's like using a photo of chickens to highlight bird declines.

There's more than a few ways to kill a rat, or get humans extinct. If climate catastrophe doesn't do it, insect holocaust will, or asteroid impact, or a stupid nuclear war, or some pandemic, or plain old overpopulation crowding us out, with 90% of forests gone.

Well I don't think humanity would suffer if there were no wasps or ants !

Agriculture is killing the world. We need to manage it much better, and stop wasting 80% of the product growing Frankenstein animals which screw up the atmosphere.

We are going to pay a heavy price for our frontal cortex.

I think if our current political situation tells us anything, it is that we believe (1) it won’t happen to us (2) the effects are being overstated (3) someone will sort it out anyway and we don’t need to do anything.
