The harsher fines will come into effect ahead of the August bank holiday weekend

No 10 has begun a crack down on illegal raves ahead of the August bank holiday weekend, following a surge in unlicensed events across the country.

But organisers of illegal raves will face a heavier backlash from Friday, facing fines up to £10,000.The stricter rules come after hundreds of illegal parties and raves have been thrown across the country, despite coronavirus rules.In London, officers have been called to more than 1,000 illegal events since the end of June, with more than 200 being held in a single weekend.

She added that police will continue to ‘crack down on the small minority who think they are above the law’.
