Ikea is buying the former flagship Topshop store on Oxford Street in a £378 million deal, according to reports.

The Swedish company will open the new shop in London in 2023 after Sir Philip Green’s retail empire Arcadia collapsed last year. Krister Mattsson, managing director of Ingka Investments, told the Financial Times: ‘This is a top, top location and we very much believe in London and the UK in the long, long term . . .. In the long run, we think it’s going to land in a good way here.’Got a story? Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at

Topshop was an exciting shopping vibe back in the late 90s and 2000s ...but not IKEA! Its okay its not like I go Oxford Circus that often anymore😒

Not sure how I get my set of KLEPPSTAD on the Central Line.

Best have good loading bays somewhere out the back then....

Oxford Street is where you go to buy fashion not flat packs. And not forgetting the £12 Ulez charge,Not to mention what it cost to park.🙄 Park where?

Millionaires petition Rishi Sunak to introduce wealth taxOpen letter demands that recovery from pandemic is not paid for by ‘care workers, street cleaners and teachers’ What a joke of a country the UK is and the media act like they are crusaders, the government only needs to make the rich pay the taxes they're meant to no need for a wealth tax, just more diversion from the facts Why don’t they just pay more tax then? Stop using tax efficiencies, and contribute more? I would prefer a few of the billionaires who live here signed up and the large billion pound+ businesses were made to pay fair share rather than shipping monies over sea.
