The prosecutor of the international criminal court has announced that her office will open a formal investigation into war crimes in Palestine that will examine both sides in the conflict.in the case, a move that prompted swift rejection from the US and Israel. The Palestinian Authority welcomed the decision.
This action has made the ICC into a political tool that acts like a prize for the PA’s refusal to return to direct negotiations with Israel, which will make real dialogue for peace and mutual recognition between the two much more difficult, the move contradicts the icc integrity
Where is the investigation of Syria for war crimes? Choosing to investigate a country that has an independent judiciary that investigates itself and follows strictly the rules of war like Israel and not investigating Syria that drops barrel bombs on civilians. Antisemitism.
Israel hasn't signed up to the treaty of Rome and Palestine isn't an Internationally recognised state so this investigation is in breach of the treaty's rules. When key members of the group tell the court it's harming it's own integrity there must be something wrong.

Importantly Ms. Bensouda had enough information to declare publicly in December 2019 that war crimes have been committed. The ICC now needs only to ascertain who committed them. We can therefore be hopeful of swift justice.
