Former Liverpool star and TV pundit Ian St John has died aged 82
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he is 'devastated' as the club mourns the passing of a 'true Anfield legend'.
St John also represented his country 21 times, claiming nine goals.He once admitted he had a"quick temper, which was a bad thing", adding:"The fact I wasn't frightened of anybody was a good thing."Image:St John presented a TV show with Jimmy Greaves - pictured together in 1986
After retiring in 1973, he went on to manage Motherwell - his hometown club - and Portsmouth.He also presented a Saturday lunchtime TV football show - Saint and Greavsie - alongside Jimmy Greaves, for seven years from 1985.Motherwell tweeted:"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ian St John. The thoughts of everyone are with his family at this difficult time."
St John began his career there in 1957 and scored 80 goals in 113 league games.The Scottish Football Association said its thoughts were with"Ian's family and friends". Read more: Sky News »
