Greencore started testing workers as a result of a recent increase in coronavirus cases in Northampton
Greencore in Northampton started"proactively testing" workers due to rising numbers of cases in the town. A spokesman for the company, which employs 2,100 people, said those who tested positive were self-isolating.Mrs Wightman said 220 people had tested positive as part of Greencore's testing and another 79"through the national process".The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the town increased from 67 in the week ending 1 August up to 85 for the week ending 8 August. One of those to test positive was Bakers' Union's branch secretary for the factory, Nicolae Macari.
"When suddenly three or four people are pulled out of a line because they have tested positive, people are terrified," he said.
Bet they were EU migrant workers shipped in, because they aren't subject to quarantine restrictions
I drove a truck to Greencore Northampton on Tuesday. Got asked if I’d shown any symptoms, not a single word that they were showing mass positive result though. Got a test last night, self isolating until the results come back.
More bullshit targeting food supplies.
Our animals need this, our planet needs this, we are way too overpopulated and it's only going to get worse with all the women breeding idiots,
Stop the customers flicking through every god damn product to find the best date!! That would be more helpful
Maybe people will stop being so lazy and start making their own sandwiches now. It’s a lot cheaper too.
Tested positive for COVID-19 or a Coronavirus (cold/flu)? Please keep the news factual, poor show BBC news
So what your saying is, dont buy a marks and sparks sarnie?
Oh dear...not good 😳
Im sorry but 300 people? All positive..all ill? I dont think so some how...i smell a rat...its just such bullcrap and people are falling for it ....KeepBritainFree
These are the real hero’s who worked so hard through out the pandemic without closing down factory and fed the nation . I believe these guys need some cheers and get well soon.
How do you get an 'outbreak' of covid? a) test anyone b) get a random 50/50 positive for the common cold c) announce it as an 'outbreak'
There were rising cases in the town so this responsible employer started proactively testing their employees, over and above what most employers are doing. Yet they and M&S are subjected to this bad press!
Almost 300 people tested positive & 300-400 tests still to come back. That’s worrying.
Everyone should watch Vernon Coleman, he explains why food factories are having 'outbreaks'.
No shocker it’s all low paid low skilled jobs causing this..
The country will be a collection of local lockdowns in the near future. Covid_19
This isn’t just any Coronavirus, this is M&S Covid-19.
Talk about targeted testing 'Mrs Wightman said 220 people had tested positive as part of Greencore's testing' No wonder there's more 'cases'
BBC 😂😂😂😂😂😂 you are FakeNews, people don't believe in your crap anymore
Surely Northampton will have to have some form of lockdown now?!
Great, we've been given a sleeping bag, iPad, and all the M&S ready meals we can eat. 'This is not just self-isolation, it's M&S self-isolation'
Population densities. People per square mile: 1,106 England (and rising) 1,079 Netherlands 969 Belgium 601 Germany 521 Italy 390 Wales 344 N. Ireland 319 Poland 271 France 269 Austria 238 Spain
Increasing overpopulation and destruction of countryside:
FEAR - BE SCARED OF FOOD. BE SCARED THAT YOU CANNOT EAT THE FOOD. SCARED THAT YOU WILL NOT GET THE FOOD. FEAR FEAR FEARPORN.
Not just any sandwiches... they’re COVID-19 sandwiches!! 😱 marksandspencer
Its blame the people not the company, they are not behaving properly outside of work! Are you for real? What is this nonsense? Let me guess they all have been told to wear masks at work recently. Is the BBC going to show their support for China as the leader of the new world now?
Wonder why it's happened at a food supplier 🤔. Ahhh, I get it, the food gets dispatched nationwide. Anyone who's shopped in M&S anywhere in the UK in the last month must get tested!
interesting how it is never the companies fault,300 people who work at the same factory, catch the virus and bring it into the factory. And there’s no risk to the public, they’ve all gone home and quarantined.Thats all fine then.
So business continuing as usual; in Self Isolation; making sandwiches. These outbreaks do seem to follow a pattern of; foreign workers living onsite in a food processing plant. Still lockdown being pointless self isolation together not a concern then; M&S food hall isolating from
Just as well I don't buy sarnies from there then, but I do get a lot of other food items 🤔 I wonder what else will transpire from this. Food manufacturers beware 👀
Yawn
It's spreading.....
To those who work on factories knows how the story goes no social distance and no mask... as I suggested any business with more than 50 workers should be COMPULSORY to wear face covering to avoid larger out breaks and some companies they don't supply face covering first aid only
No M&S sandwiches for a while then aww man
Here we go again. BBC fear mongering propaganda..food shortages. The story is predictable &so are the BBC for the absolute rubbish they push. seriously wonder where they find the reporters who have such lack of integrity &care for the sanity of others!!! DefundTheBBC
Maybe handling too much tobacco.
I hope these companies are fined for putting their workers and the general public at risk.Where are the sanctions?
Yes CoRONAvIRUS, not Covid. Coronavirus is flu and cold. Dreadfully misleading again DefundTheBBC
And que the reappearance of MattHancock spouting more shite!
Can a sandwich be tested? Great if it has antibody’s, not so great if it’s still actively shedding.
More hysteria and lies
Another food production company? No sign though of Mr Covid_19 just those with traces of coronavirus aka TheFlu. BTW how many were actually sick or indeed hospitalized?
No more Corona..tion Chicken Sarnies for me then 🤔
I can't dispute Mrs Wightman's statement. Some people have got to blame for throwing cautions to the wind despite all warnings regarding the lingering presence of the virus. Greencore as a company must be commended 4 its testing prowess& how it is managing the current situation.
More than likely some one accidentally sneezed or has hayfever
Which coronavirus? Theres hundreds of different types 🤔
People will still be saying it’s just a little flu, when 800 people a day start dying again.
Awww they got a cold.
Stop calling it an 'outbreak' It was already there, only because they were tested does it show up. A couple of days in bed and they'll be fine.
Right and how many are actually sick? None?
Personally, I think this self isolation is not worth a mention, how do we know these people are doing so? No more sarnies from M&S for a while I'm thinking contaminated outer wrappers 🤔
More fake virus propaganda
Casedemic
fake bullshit news. just go away and shuv your crap up your arse.
Blimey hope the sarnies are Covid free 👀
Casedemic The title says it all - absolutely crucial that you see this, realize the reality - and share widely. You must understand that our epidemic has waned - and has been replaced with an irrational, unscientific Casedemic
lrdgreen Oh! go on, say it with a German accent, go on please. '...adding if people fail to follow the rules a possible local lockdown will follow'.
Fake virus slowing down the food supply...again
How many of them have been hospitalised, they're the only ones that you need to be worried about. The rest probably didn't even know they had it.
It’s not just covid, this is M&S covid ..... 😀
So deadly they didn’t even know they had it
It's a bad flu.....what's the problem?
Now coronaphobia is in the mainstream, we're f*****.
Hi, please check out my gig if you need any kind of graphic design
have a nice day!
