Hubble has found persistent water vapor on one half of Jupiter's ice moon Europa

The Hubble Space Telescope has confirmed Europa has persistent water vapor on one hemisphere. The vapor is on the trailing hemisphere, the part that is always opposite its direction of motion on its orbit. Researchers do not yet understand why the water vapor is only one hemisphere. The presence of water vapor on Europa was established in 2013. Europa has a liquid ocean made of water that could be hospitable for life.
