Due to these rising numbers, more people are getting 'pinged' by the NHS app or being told to isolate by NHS Test and Trace – often meaning they have to work from home . You'll also need to prove your household costs have increased due to remote working, and you can't make the claim if your workplace is already paying for these home expenses or if you're self-employed.

'The same also applies if you have to work from home because you've been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, or because you're self-isolating having been pinged by the NHS app.'However, any claims for last year or the previous four years will be paid to you as one lump sum in your salary.
