Now an RNA molecule which switches genes off and on has been found by the University of California San Diego.In lab tests, the study has found a cellular "switch" that could be turned off to clear out the virus hiding dormant inside cells - inching closer to finding "the holy grail" ofDr Tariq Rana, the author of the study, said: "This is one of the key switches that the HIV field has been searching for three decades to find.
But the current treatment isn't a cure - the virus still lays dormant inside cells, ready to start multiplying again if therapy is stopped.What are the symptoms of HIV?
