A HEALTH minister sparked fury today by insisting the offer of a 1% pay rises for NHS nurses is the "most we can afford" despite their work on the Covid frontline.

She said: "The 1% offer is the most we think we can afford. It's what the offer is. It would be wrong to say a single person in the Government doesn't appreciate the effort of nurses.protecting people's livelihoods, about continuing the furlough scheme, about fighting the pandemic, and we've put huge effort into that.

The health minister said nurses have had a 12% increase in pay over the past three years which has taken the average salary up to £34,000 a year.Rachel Harrison, national officer of the GMB union, fumed: "NHS workers are furious at the Government's recommendation of 1% pay increase It comes after Dame Donna Kinnair, the chief executive of the Royal College of Nursing said the paltry pay rise could see more NHS staff quit.

He added: “Rishi Sunak’s promised to be open and honest with the public yet shamefully insults every single member of NHS staff sneaking out this announcement and failing to include any mention of NHS pay in the budget.

Makes me think about all the times our government has wasted our tax money. Remember they made the ludicrous idea to pay £500 to anyone testing positive? Or paying doctors per jab. But the most they can afford is 1% payrise? Bollocks

1% is still higher than inflation.

But they can afford for MPs to get 11% pay rises?

Bet its not! Stop the mps & PMs payrises and hand it over to the NHS workers!

Women's health: Female patients to be asked about 'gender health gap'There is 'strong evidence' services for female patients in England need improving, ministers say. I wonder what percentage Heath visits are between male female? I would take a guess that almost 70% of are female. Yeah cause women haven’t been living longer than men since the industrial revolution 🤔😂 Good. It’s about time that women have the same life expectancy as men. For far too long they have enjoyed improved longevity, which is racist or something.
