Struggling to sleep during lockdown? 😴 You're not alone

More than half the UK population has struggled with sleep during the lockdown, a survey suggests.

King's College London researchers said sleep problems were more common in people facing financial hardship, while two in five reported having more vivid dreams than usual. The findings are based on online interviews in late May with 2,254 UK residents in the 16-75 age bracket.

"As with so much about Covid-19, the crisis is affecting people very differently depending on their circumstances, and that includes the most fundamental aspects of life, such as sleep," said Prof Bobby Duffy of King's College London. He said nearly two-thirds of the public reported some negative impact on their sleep, showing just how unsettling the pandemic and lockdown measures have been.

CBeebiesHQ 🌈please have a little listen to my nephews song all about “the germ”. It’s sure to make you smile. 💙

The survey polled circa 2000 people. Hardly a representation of 60+ million people in the UK 🙄. I'm sick of the BBC distorting facts to suit their stores.

Lockdown 🤣🤣🤣

Watch the BBC News that puts anyone to sleep 😴 !

I know, my girlfriend sleeps next to me

Yes, I keep waking up thinking I hear people rioting in the street outside. But it must be a dream, because the BBC has nothing about it.

How strange that the whole of UK is massively concerned about the Mental Health of people during lockdown. This level of concern should be normal especially towards people with actual Mental Health issues.

Our mind never turns off even when we sleep in times of peace. So it isn't a surprise that we are struggling now. I had about three broken hours of sleep last night and what felt like 24 hours of fretting. Yuk!

CBeebiesHQ Nope just struggling to wake up!!

Nope. Can do it with my eyes closed 🤭

BBCLondonNews let's open the pubs again...I will sleep like a baby...

4.30am the cats took to getting me up,, he cant sleep,, so im not allowed 🐾

Thanks for sharing this. I thought I was losing it.

People's mental health is taking a pounding. Not because of lockdown, but the relentless pressure to succeed and outdo everyone else.

Telling someone in a dark room trying to get to sleep that they're not alone is not going to help!
