Phillip Smith admits assault after the police watchdog found 'his use of Taser was gratuitous'.

A police officer who repeatedly used a Taser on a man who was handcuffed has admitted common assault.

The police watchdog investigation later found there was no justification for its use on the last three occasions. Smith was with a group of officers who had been called to a property due to concerns for the welfare of a 29-year-old man.Amanda Rowe, Independent Office for Police Conduct regional director, said Smith then "repeatedly Tasered a man at a time when he posed no threat to him or his colleagues".

Smith is now subject to gross misconduct disciplinary proceedings, which could result in his dismissal.

Was it on the instructions of pritipatel ?

Disgraceful.

It is not 'common assault' is it ! It is GBH with intent to endanger life. On top of that police were called because of 'welfare concerns' Have the police been trained to taser, kick punch assault when they attend some one in mental health distress ?

There's no justification for the crimes people commit but for some reason criminals get away with almost anything today.

I guess he was scared the guy would say more mean words and hur this fragile ego?

Disgusting that police don’t have guns to subdue threats. Tazer like water pistols.

Andy Burnham: I won’t rule out running for Labour leader – but only after 2024🗣️“We'd like to meet. Prime Minister, Chancellor, we are ready to sit down,” Andy Burnham says. “If you want to level up as much as we do, it can happen - if it’s a partnership” Levelling up is a noble intent. And those living and working in those areas deserve it. But beware of working too closely with Labour. With this I mean: don't base the strategy of levelling up on Labour mayors. If LU works Labour's in deep trouble. Pipe down Burnham. Your ego is getting the better of you. He's corrupt to his moral core he covers up for nonces And can only presume it's to gain leverage over these horrible people, or ...well the alternative is far more sinister
