The Good Morning Britain host, 43, had revealed during conversation on Thursday’s programme that she has links to the University of Central Lancashire, which prompted questions from co-host Sean Fletcher, 47.
He responded: ‘You snuck in there that you’re a chancellor with a university, that’s pretty impressive.’ Ranvir then replied: ‘Yes well, that’s another thing. It’s like being the Queen, you don’t do very much, but you go around shaking hands. Sorry to the Queen – you work very hard.’ The off-hand comment didn’t go down well with viewers, who tweeted: ‘Am shocked and disgusted that you just said the Queen doesn’t do much but shake hands-you should be ashamed of yourself! Vile and disgusting words.’’ and ‘as if you’ve just said the Queen doesn’t do a lot other than shake peoples hands.’
Agree youâre right – I actually meant itâs a ceremonial told without any real power but fumbled it.
