Scam attempts by fraudsters masquerading as HMRC surged as people completed tax returns at home

Scam attempts by fraudsters masquerading as the UK's tax authority surged as potential victims completed tax returns while staying at home.

There were a total of 33,053 reports in January, in addition to 46,210 phishing emails, and 26,643 suspicious text messages during the same month.

I had a scam call - robot voice advising unless I responded, I'd be arrested . Came from 02036362758. Fortunately I now have tome to look up which countries don's have extradition treaties :)

These clever fraudsters I only imagine have no jobs other than stealing. Can you imagine the good they could offer mankind if they turned their skills to catching robbers, abusers and haters ? Phew we would hold them up as our heroes

Fed up of scams now. Having at least 3/4 a week. I report them all. Be nice to see some publicity of any court cases or conviction for some. Never seen anything about this in the news
