A five-day siege involving armed police in Coventry has been brought to an end.The tense stand-off involved a man who had barricaded himself into a house with his young son.It began on Sunday when officers were called out to carry out a welfare check at the address shortly after noon.

Police previously revealed they feared the 41-year-old man involved had weapons.A huge police presence has been surrounding the house ever since but specialist firearms officers moved in on Thursday evening.The male has been taken into custody where he will be assessed by mental health professionals.
