One of the country's most popular restaurant chains is opening its first site in Tameside today. Ashton-under-Lyne is now home to Greater Manchester's newest Wagamama restaurant.
The restaurant, which serves modern Asian food based on Japanese cuisine, will welcome its first customers from 11am this morning . Wagamama takes over the former 900 Degrees restaurant at Ashton Moss, near to Hollywood Bowl. Alice Eagle, marketing manager at Wagamama, said: “We are so excited to open our brand new restaurant in Ashton-under-Lyne. Our restaurants have been a pillar within the Manchester and Greater Manchester community for over 25 years, with seven restaurants already open in the city and around Greater Manchester.
The company says the new restaurant is opening to meet demand in Greater Manchester - following the region's other restaurants at Spinningfields, St Peter's Square, The Printworks, Media City, the Trafford Centre, Horwich and Parrs Wood. The new restaurant has more than 140 internal covers with an additional outside seating space, while take-away is also available.
Wagamama is renowned for its iconic katsu curry as well as rice bowls, noodles and curries. The company also expects huge demand for its new vegan menu, which launched in October 2021, when Wagamama became the UK's first high-street chain restaurant to give plant-based dishes equal share on their menu.
