Residents criticise 55-storey skyscraper in Ealing while mayor warns over affordability

Plans for one of Britain’s tallest residential skyscrapers have been approved in west London despite complaints from residents that the proposal is “obscene” and an “eyesore” and a warning from the mayor of London that it lacks affordable housing.

Ealing Council’s obsession with skyscrapers and low quality developments must stop. Time for their planning department to receive a full site inspection.

Let's see if they get the cladding right on this one...

Also, who said it’s an “eyesore”? Local residents safely ensconced in their ludicrously expensive Victorian houses? My heart bleeds.

No real evidence this a bad development other than getting in design fetishists create streets for comment and saying that Sadiq Khan thinks 35% affordable (which is clearly defined despite your quotation marks and a normal allocation) isn’t enough.

London already has an overabundance of large unattractive 'architectural' buildings. It's a shame to see the contrast between those and the city's historical landmarks.

Looks fine to me 🤷‍♂️

An architectural monstrosity. So tacky.

Folk that could live in this project probably don’t have a “housing problem”

Ridiculous.
