The GFA is all but dead. The IRA council have not stood down, and the IRA by their own admission were active in Londonderry during the summer 2018 and had guns. IRA Sinn fein deliberately brought down devolved government at Stormont, this is NOT what people voted for!

The Good Friday Agreement required a referendum in Ireland to be ratified as it changed our constitution. That referendum passed with a 94.4% majority. Best of luck to her.

The GFA is not T May’s agreement to amend. It is an international binding agreement. And you wonder why no one trust the British to keep their word on the border they imposed in Ireland? That is why the backstop is there to stay peeps. Get used to it.

Why would Ireland do that? UK unilaterally leaving EU & making promises regarding exit to all EU27; each EU member has comfort that UK even less likely to break any part of contract with all EU27 vs bilateral agt made with each state (esp if UK promise matters only to 1 EU state)
The backstop argument is a thin smokescreen for Conservatives wanting to rip up the Good Friday Agreement. Thankfully, the good people of the EU are fighting to keep it in place, and keep the peace.
