'Just when we think we’ve seen it all'

The e-scooter rider – lit up by the lights of a police car – was driving up the M1 in the pitch black Officers received a number of calls from concerned motorists heading north by Sheffield at around 5.20am.

The rider was stopped near junction 35 and taken off the motorway, where his uninsured e-scooter was seized.Officers said it could have ended in disaster ‘M1, Sheffield: Just when we think we’ve seen it all,’ the traffic officers tweeted.‘Pitch black, raining, poor visibility=a recipe for disaster. Rider reported & removed from network, scooter seized for no insurance.’It is technically illegal to ride e-scooters on a UK public road, cycle lane or pavement.
