‘This is a sensitive moment. We can’t just stay in lockdown forever. We have got to transition.’

‘If there is any up-tick in the number of cases, if we stop making the progress I described, we will have to take further measures again and target the virus wherever it may appear.’supports HTML5 video

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Tory MP Tom Tugendhat said he understands the public’s frustrations over the Dominic Cummings situation. Mr Cummings, the PM’s key adviser, travelled from London to Durham with his wife and child during lockdown. Asked about Mr Cummings, Mr Tugendhat said: ‘Of course I’m side-stepping it, the reason I’m sidestepping it is because I’m not in government. I’m not going to answer for the Government, I’m not going to defend the Government in that way.

‘The Prime Minister has made his decision. You know, you can see the effect of it, you don’t need me to tell you, you can see how people have reacted to it and I’ve written to the people I’m privileged enough to represent to give them my views.’Asked what he told his constituents, Mr Tugendhat said: ‘I said I can understand the frustration but it is fundamentally up to the Prime Minister and it is going to be up to all of us to express our views.

But the “Karen’s” don’t want to work ‼️‼️

Not forever, just until its safe. Obviously.

99.5% of the population were never at risk of dying from this virus - There should never have been a lockdown. Now it's about 'saving-face' and covering up the failures - like not shielding the 'at risk' groups. Let's look at the death rate - that's where the 'science' is.

Absolutely true but wait for all comments..

'Dominic Raab must resign or be sacked': Harry Dunn's parents on their long fight for justiceThe teenager died last August after being hit by a car whose driver has yet to face charges. His parents won’t stop asking why Sorry for their loss, but their anger is misplaced, and is cashing in on their grief for a few extra clicks. I am sympathetic to their cause but do they really believe buffoon Johnson would sack Raab when Johnson refused sack the lying SPAD for breaking lockdown rules? Seems more like a marketing campaign in the style of the McCanns which may get headlines but deliver little else. I don’t care what they think 🤷🏾

UK death toll rises to 38,489 after further 113 dieIt comes as the Foreign Secretary said the country cannot 'stay in lockdown forever'. And an illustration of why the daily announced numbers shouldn't be used to judge trends. That number (orange) is up and down like a yo-yo due to the reporting system, while actual deaths follow very consistent trend. Breakdown to help explain how the number the gov't announces each day is calculated (like today's 113) and why it sometimes doesn't quite equal the individual figures reported in the media. With 2445 confirmed Covid19 cases yesterday & 215 deaths,it is way too risky to ease lockdown!
