Western officials doubt that Ukraine will be able to take back all the land it has lost since the invasion began. After all, the war has shown how much easier it is to defend than attack, and Russian forces are well dug in

Save time by listening to our audio articles as you multitaskIn the early days of the invasion the West worried that Ukrainian forces would be swiftly overwhelmed by Russia’s superior firepower and resistance would collapse.

Russia still has plenty of munitions and equipment, says Richard Connolly, an expert on the country’s economy and defence industry. Russian arms factories are said to be working double or triple shifts, he notes. Russia also has large stockpiles of old tanks to draw on. Over time, shortages will bite, but they are more likely to lead to the deployment of outmoded or poorly maintained weapons than to a total drought, Mr Connolly believes.Manpower is a bigger problem.

But this optimism glosses over several yawning pitfalls. For one thing, Ukraine’s forces have used most of their munitions and, without the domestic manufacturing capacity to replenish them, are now completely reliant on foreign benefactors. The recent fighting has centred on long, heavy artillery barrages that consume vast amounts of ammunition.

It is not just weapons that Ukraine will need to pursue such a strategy, however; the government is also desperately short of money. The war has smashed its economy: the central bank and thereckon that output could shrink by more than a third this year—a blow on a par with the Depression in America in the 1930s.

The shortage of critical components is a worry for Russia’s generals, too. “We have reports from Ukrainians that when they find Russian military equipment on the ground, it’s filled with semiconductors that they took out of dishwashers and refrigerators”, Gina Raimondo, America’s commerce secretary, told Congress in May. Although some Russian firms do make computer chips, and are trying to boost output, their wares are more expensive and less sophisticated than imported ones.

You are a 100percent correct they to arm them now not later its harder to get land back than defend it

Putin will be testing the nuclear remote then

The point isn’t to win the war or lose the war; the war is the victory.

Amen to that🇺🇦

The problem is that Ukraine is running out of soldiers before weapons.

Good idea Economist (house journal of Roth€child crime cabal that controls The West and sponsors Ukro Nazi and Israel). Economist pre announces Roth intentions in advance.

Yes supply more arms. NATO has to defend the Comedian who they put as there puppet. Who cares about the Ukrainian. Just sell them arms and false hope and let the Ukrainian die

Now, it’s clear whose side you’re on. Not Ukraine, not Europe, not Peace, not the US, not even the World, only Capitalism : more weapon, more destruction… more pay for the capitalists

💩🐄. Follow the 💰

Deluded.

The idea of continuing this conflict is so dangerous, a negotiated settlement is urgently required. Didn't Finland face the same situation in the 30s ,

If

It’s a military industrial complexes wet dream.

..to what end though....a long protracted war....who benefits.....Zelensky should go to Putin...no middlemen...

So are we starting to admit this is a proxy war? Cold-war style

Keep the dreams alive 🤔

At what cost to Ukr itself? Would the company think about the price Ukrainians are paying or it's just 'pursuit of the capitalists' interests' which supersedes morality, it's ok with the company to fire a gun using Ukr's shoulders..

what don't NATO members get? if Ukraine goes, next will be NATO countries.

Wars are won by soldiers. Not money.

Politicians should prepare for economic collapse instead of war. 👎 Spirit tells me collapse is coming soon. Some banks have huge leverage.

Jejejejejejejejeje

All Ukraine needs is to cut off Russian forces from the mainland, blow up the Crimea bridge, and demolish Russian Navy in the Black Sea; and slowly strangle Russian troops deprived of supplies. Should not be hard when they’re exhausted and out of ammo and people.

if the world leaders allow the russian federation to take even a piece of Ukrainian land, it will be their weakness. Glory to Ukraine!🇺🇦💙💛

Якщо згадати, що напочатку нам давали 72 години.... то до сраки їх сумніви

Russia should realize by now that having a partner like Republican Party in an attack of US is much more effective and easy than they way Russia is doing it to Ukraine. Find a good liar in Ukraine !

Well, we'll see, won't we. Only oracles predict the outcome of wars.

It’s obvious…..but completely contradictory to the rhetoric from BorisJohnson POTUS. Would our politicians lie to us the better question could be…do they know what ‘truth’ means

Russia, unless NATO and EU supply Ukraine in this war of attrition.

People are starving...

They also doubted they could save the country! MaxBoot AVindman john_sipher tomricks1 RadioFreeTom

Russia can not sustain a multi year war killing thousands of her citizens and costing billions each mo, the West and Ukraine can.
