Thousands of people have been evacuated

This is the moment people in southern India watched on in horror as a house fell into floodwaters on Sunday.

Drenched locals looked on helplessly as the property was swept away, before walking along a path to follow its progress downstream. P.K. Jayasree, the top government official in Kottayam district where the landslide took place, said almost half of the casualties were from a single family.A distraught man told Kerala news channel Manorama TV from Koottickal, in Kottayam: ‘It was my livelihood. Everything is gone.’

Kerala also suffered badly in 2018, when its worst floods in a century killed at least 400 people and displaced around 200,000. India, which has a population of 1.3 billion, relies on rainfall to support its people, but torrential downpours can cause floods, landslides and water-borne diseases.

Art mistake: Cardiff artwork washed off by cleaners in errorArtwork aiming to make Cardiff more 'vibrant and welcoming' is removed in error by cleaning crews. It's not art. It's graffiti, doodling and scribbling. My grandkids could do better. Remove it all and keep it off. What did they think it was? Middle-class graffiti? Oh well life goes on.
