Deutsche Bank has reported a bigger than expected €3.15bn quarterly loss after counting the cost of major restructuring which will see it axe 18,000 jobs.
The German lender said that the cull of a fifth of its global employees, announced two weeks ago, had already seen more than 900 employees"given notice or informed their roles will be eliminated". Deutsche's 8,000-strong UK workforce is expected to be dealt a heavy blow by the restructuring as the bank scales back its investment banking division - which has its biggest centre in London.earlier this month that it was expected to result in a loss of €2.8bn but Wednesday's second quarter result was even worse than that.
