Newcastle defender Danny Rose says he feels Premier League players' 'backs are against the wall' over discussions about wage cuts.

The Premier League has agreed to use the wage cuts to advance £125m to the EFL and National League, and give £20m towards the NHS.- led by Jordan Henderson - had held talks about possible donations to charity during the pandemic.

The Professional Footballers' Association has previously written to its members urging them not to agree any reduction or deferral in wages until they have spoken to the union. "It's fantastic to see people trying to make that effort. It's something everyone wants to be a part of. As footballers, it's important we help as many people as possible.

Former Tottenham and England midfielder Jermaine Jenas said the criticism levelled at Premier League players"was an absolute joke"."Essentially, if the players take a wage cut, the beneficiaries are the clubs. Their main concern is what is happening to this money. They are happy to put money into a pot, rather than it just vanishing.

All of them?

Can only say Athletico Madrid 70%, Prem League 30%, Richard Branson 0%; Green 0% large portions of the country on Furlough.

Well if you had all decided to give up a chunk of your substantial wages without pressure you would be respected, not now however. Your clubs ask taxpayers to cover wages of backroom staff but you keep your wages in full - NOT ON

The issue is not the players, its clubs like Tottenham who see fit to claim the government's furlough scheme when like of levy earn £7m per annum. Scandalous

Wow. Big of them.

Still missing the point, those funds should be used to pay the staff, not prop the club up which already has significant wealth! Why are the staff being paid for by the British taxpayer?! Disgusted by any premier league club that during a crisis takes from the state

First sensible comment well done

Whoaaaa what about the owners? You know the ones with deeper pockets?

Shouldn’t be a deferral!!! Should be a pay cut. 😡😡😡

It's the fact that football clubs were using the govt scheme to pay staff while (some) players were sitting on 100 grand a week. From a club point of view, burger seller is more replaceable than centre forward, I know, and its the club who make the decisions.

Premeirership and championship players need to act now! Because you will loose the respect of fans, then attendances, football at the top level will loose its watchable appeal!

150 PL appearances for THFC over 12 seasons. Shouldn’t he have made this statement several yrs ago?
