A joiner who killed an "adored" grandmother of four after losing control of his car has been told he is facing a prison sentence.
Prosecutor Alex Prentice KC said: “The car then mounted the pavement and travelled onto the grass verge. The accused sought to correct his course and steered to his offside causing the car to rotate in the other direction - clockwise - whilst it was on the grass verge. He added: “From the injuries she sustained and the damage profile to the car, it appears that she may have turned and faced the car when it struck her.”
“Another dog walker was in the area at the time of the collision and became aware of the sound of the collision. She turned round and saw the accused’s car overturn. Several other people stopped to give assistance and an ambulance was called. He added: “He appreciates the extreme gravity of the matter. He appreciates the gravity of the extreme loss that Mrs Humphries’s family feel. He is fully aware that the outcome of this plea will be a custodial sentence."In a statement, released through Digby Brown, her family said: “Dolores was lots of things to many people – wife, mother, granny, daughter, sister, friend and pillar of the community – but the one thing everyone had in common was they all adored Saint Doe.
“Dolores was one of those rare people in life who had the capacity to make others feel good about themselves with her contagious enthusiasm for life, happiness and selflessness.
