The Scottish government has told children to stay at home this Halloween.
"Children can still get dressed up and share jokes with their families, and our Parent Club guidance has lots of fun and creative ideas for families to enjoy a safe celebration at home."Scots have also been told not to hold large gatherings in their gardens for Bonfire Night due to the cancellation of organised events.
"Adapting alternative celebrations and sticking to the rules in place can go a huge way to ensuring everyone's safety." "To parents, to children; think of ways you can celebrate in a way that is safe and doesn't have children or others coming into unnecessary contact with others."
The accepted pattern of 'trick or treat' activities needs to be brought to an end in any case.
NicolaSturgeon I’m a US expat living in England. Much effort has gone into ensuring kids have a good safe experience this year. Decorating the perimeter wall rather the grounds so no trekking up the drive. A candy chute out a window to deposit treats into their bags SafetyFirst
Stay inside. Have a snack, watch movies. It's OK to stay home.
We didn’t even have Halloween as we know today when I was a child, ffs get a grip stop making kids feel they are missing something. Get a pumpkin and have some family fun at home.
no trick or treat this year - it's going to be 'track & trace' 🎃
Yes, the Bogeyman has become Covid-19. It's Halloween everyday now!
Tell the Scottish to stay tin Scotland as well.
‘Leave them kids alone.. all in all you’re just another... ‘
Or Sturge will send out this guy!!
Poor kids in Wales can't even buy Halloween costumes/decorations...
Quite right, who wants to see hoards of gingers walking the streets frightening people
I seriously think sturgeon and her band of Merry men were bullied and abused as children/young adults. Dentist Leitch def looks like he has been fiddled with
Freedom
Ring-a-ring o' roses, A pocket full of posies, A-tishoo! A-tishoo! We all fall down.
We are going for a walk to enjoy everyone’s pumpkin display.
Same thing is happening here in Toronto.
Here's the thing. They can buy those Halloween sized bag of sweets all year round and they don't even need a reason to buy them.
I would think that sensible parents wouldn’t need to be told this
I can't remember all this fuss about Halloween when I was a child - trick or treat!! Did this all come from America as part of the commercialisation of certain dates?
Instead of ‘trick’ or ‘treat’; why not send the kids out to ‘track’ and ‘trace’.............?
Advised not told, wee nippy can fuck off as far as I'm concerned
The biggest Halloween fright is at 10 downing Street
So the wicked witch of the North has spoken again.
Doubt they will though and rightly so
All children in my area are welcome to come to my house, im not in a vulnerable group and young children are not transmitters of the Kung Flu
but their rugby team can go to wales and have a cuddle for 80 mins 🤷🏻♂️
Who told them was it the wicked witch
Let’s hope all the children across the whole country comply, otherwise it’s just going to increase the spread of the virus.
I hear a planned showing of The Exorcist has been cancelled and replaced by the “Coronavirus Daily Briefing”.
Hopefully those BBC leaflet stoppers will do the same...it's non essential..
So kids stay at home for one night as it’s Halloween, but they can all go back to schools 2 days later
As long as they stay 2 meters away from my door at all tines, which means they can't knock, I don't care.
Sorry for sounding like a killjoy, but all children should stay at home EVERY Halloween. Such a pointless time of the year, only spawned from across the water. grumpy
They have not been told to stay at home they are encouraged to stay at home. BBC please stop your fake stories.
This year people not wearing a mask will be scary.
Coronavirus/COVID-19 is being used as an excuse to destroy our culture.
Sturgeon will take their places scary woman
So kids can mix with 29 other pupils in a class all day, but can't stand at a 2m distance outside someone's front door? Hmmmm
Spooky.
One of Europes most depressed country banning children from something that might make them happy
For the first time in my life I hope children go out trick or treating and stick a finger up to this hysterical nonsense
It looks like children under 12 are not spreaders.
Spookeeeeey
Good
Just incase they catch a cold that has a 99.7% survival rate. More chance being killed by a pumpkin 🎃🙄
Common sense should see all but the most stupid of people stay at home. If you see anyone out trick or treating then they’re most likely the village idiot.
Stay Home and watch the scary power mad witch running Scotland on TV...
Nicola Sturgeon is an evil ghoul
johnhopkinsonb2 Will you be out frightening people this year? Course you frighten children 365 days a year, not just on October 31.
Companies take note and stop sending cold callers door to door during a pandemic. Had the likes of HelloFreshUK and octopus_energy representatives increasing the risk by going door to door and banging on mine in recent weeks.
And let's hope they all ignore that 'advice'.
Telling children to stay at home this Halloween It’s supposed to be scary out there, teach the kids to face your fears
Here in the States, that's what I would advise. But no, it's still going to happen in my state.
What a joyless place these idiotic politicians have turned Scotland into
Harrynorrie
Good, its for their own good. Halloween is about ghosts ghouls and the dead. Its an ancient custom not worth risking a life for.
During a pandemic? No shit!
Bollocks to that
TheCriticalDri2
Regardless of opinions on lockdown's and whatnot, surely people can see that kids and parents going from door to door is surely just a massive risk that isn't worth taking.
wee jimmy hitler loves the power
